I don't know what the weather's like where you are, but it's been cold and rainy around here the past couple of days. So despite the fact that it's technically spring, my cravings haven't yet made the transition from hot cocoa and baked goods to ice cream. Which might explain this week's project: hot chocolate for one.
I've been wanting to find a way to creatively reuse all of the baby food jars I inevitably end up simply recycling each week. I did a search for crafty projects utilizing small jars and came up with a bunch of ideas, liking this one the best. There's enough hot chocolate mix for one mug, along with some mini marshmallows and - since the hot chocolate mix is on the mild side - a generous helping of Ghirardelli's 60% cocoa chocolate chips.
I went with this project idea because I knew my time would be limited again this week, busy trying to launch another project I've been working on for years. More on that later in the week...Anyway, even so, I felt like the project needed something else, something I actually made. I embroidered another scrap of denim from Neal's old jeans used in last week's project to finish off the top. What's that on top, you ask? A mini marshmallow and a chocolate chip. Duh. The chocolate chip came out a little better than the marshmallow. Oh well. This gives me renewed respect for friend and artist Melinda Go's project, which involves a lot more embroidery. In addition to the carpal tunnel syndrome, I think I'd go blind.
Anyway, as usual, this little hot chocolate for one kit is up for grabs, for free, for one week. If you'd like to win this particular giveaway, leave me a comment to that effect on this post and I'll enter your name in the random drawing at the end of the week.
Oh, and thanks to Neal for his photography skills. I can't seem to take a focused picture to save my life lately. Photographer I am definitely not...

Eyesight changes with babies! My focusing skills are not as good as they used to be, so I end up taking many more pictures than I need to. Lovely little jar. Of course, I'd love this one - who wouldn't with the extra chocolate??
It's so true! I can't tell if the extra fine lines I have around my eyes over the past few months are from the stress of having a young child or all the squinting.
You're officially entered for this one! I still have some stationery to send to you, too...
Great job as usual - I will pass on this one as it would not be very fresh by the time I got it. But kudos to you. I have to wear cheaters these days my bifocals are just not what they used to be.
Becky be sure to go to my blog site and see the pic I just posted. Love ya - K
I am a little lost on whether or not I am too late, but I am seriously blown away that you have the time and creative energy to do all this! Please enter me in the drawing too unless shipping things to me would be too much hassle.
Hey Mer - no, you're not too late! The giveaway is good for one week - I'm actually not even sure I've ever had to really do the drawing yet, to be honest, but I won't do it before Friday. It'll be a showdown between you and Jo, so far!
The projects are really not too time-consuming and I enjoy it. Plus, I'm using up some supplies that have been lingering in my studio for years.
